Horrific.  In one word that’s my description of this show.  We announced our partnership with RiotCast, ascended to #24 on iTunes, and this dropped THIS load on our listeners.  We’re doing the podcast AFTER recording 2 hours of SiriusXM shows and the drinking and fatigue are starting to show already.  I’m thinking we’ll start doing podcasts on Saturday afternoons, but we’re open to ideas…we just have to find a time that we can plan on.   Thanks to Big A for taking pity on us and calling in live.

The good news?  We did ascend to #24 in iTunes podcasts on …

Finally I can announce publicly that Weird Medicine: The Podcast has joined the RiotCast Network and will be producing all-new WEEKLY podcasts!  This doesn’t mean we’re leaving satellite radio or anything.  We will continue to do the SiriusXM show as long as they’ll have us;  this is just new content for our listeners who have been, well, not exactly clamoring, but intimating that they might listen if we did shows more frequently.

The podcasts will air LIVE when we record them (schedule is still “fluid” but usually will be on Tuesday evenings) on Ustream (links below), so you can call in …

Pertussis! Pertussis! Pertussis!

Anyone who heard Anthony on O&A today may have questions about Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and their risk of contracting it. Here’s some information:

Pertussis is caused by the bacterium Bordetella Pertussis and it is highly contagious. Children are vaccinated against it (the famous “DPT” or Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus vaccine) but a lot of doctors forget to vaccinate their adult patients, assuming this is a childhood disease.

From the CDC: “Since the 1980s, there’s been an increase in the number of cases of pertussis, especially among preteens and teens (10–19 years of age) and babies younger than 6 months of age. In 2010, …

Casting call: The Opie and Anthony Channel HBO series

Every once in awhile I think about how an O&A movie or Tee Vee show would look.   If the boys didn’t play themselves, who on Earth could do it?  Then I watched “Sons of Anarchy” and realized the show had already done the casting for me.  Here’s how I think the producers of SOA would cast “Spreading the Virus: The Opie and Anthony Story” for Lifetime Television:

Ken Johnson makes a decent Gregg “Opie” Hughes doin’ gang signs at FH Riley’s

Finally! A Technique for Penis “Enlargement” that May Actually Work

From BodyODD:

“Package deal: Injections make penis grow, study finds

By Dr. Tony Youn
Does penis size matter?

A group of researchers from Korea University apparently believes it does, considering they discovered a way to make it happen

They recently published a study in the Journal of Sexual Medicine that analyzed how injections of a hyaluronic acid filler (Restylane Sub-Q) could increase penile girth.  These physicians injected an average of 20.5 cc (about  two-thirds of a medicine cup) using “a back-and-forth technique” into the deep soft tissue layers of the penises of 50 men.  The product was then ‘homogenized with a roller.’

The men’s penises had …

Missing Patrice O’Neal

From Weird Medicine (Excerpted for the Patrice Tribute this weekend on Sirius 206, XM105):

“As I write this, I just got word that Patrice O’Neal has passed away.

I met Patrice at Opie’s wedding and the first thing I noticed about him was just what a sweet guy he was.   ‘Sure Doctor Steve, I’ll do your little show’…I always thought we had all the time in the world to have that conversation on the air about Diabetes and being in show business.  Lesson learned.

Patrice was a big hearted guy;  Chest Pain Rob reminded me today …

Weird Medicine Addendum Sept 24: Post Beer Fest Edition

Well, we made the mistake of going to a Beer Fest and carried the party to the house afterward.  Then someone said “hey!  Let’s do a show!”  See if you can tell whether some people (certainly not me) were impaired during the taping of this podcast.

Tonight’s topics:

1) Supraluminal Neutrinos
2) Breast Reduction Surgery
3) The connection between your belly button and your genitals
4) The causes of dry mouth
5) A guy bleeding from both ends
6) e cigarettes and smoking cessation
7) Weird Chantix Dreams

and a bunch of other malarkey.

We were featured in the Stitcher.com weekly newsletter this week and this is the best we …

your pal,

Please update your RSS feed!

In an attempt to get control of our RSS feed, we’re moving everyone from the old feed to:

The reasons for this are complicated, but suffice it to say that a certain webpage producer lost the password to our old feed and we may have thousands of people following that feed without any documentation of it.  This will ultimately affect our ability to sell advertising on the Weird Medicine Addendum Podcast and keep new content on the feed.  If you are getting this message through an RSS feed, email update, google reader, whatever, please click the link above and switch …

Weird Medicine August 11 2011 LIVE Podcast Part 1

Weird Medicine Addendum returns, now on Stitcher and iTunes.  If you haven’t checked out Stitcher yet, it’s a really cool on-demand radio service for your smart phone.  The app has low-overhead and there’s virtually NO lag unless you just have a crappy connection.   After you listen to Weird Medicine, check out The Joe Rogan Experience and other cool stuff.

I’m breaking this show into two 30 minute podcasts just to see if people like it better in small chunks.  I still have such a low self-esteem that I can’t imagine anyone would want to listen to AN HOUR …

Weird Medicine is on SiriusXM103 on Saturday night at 8pm Eastern! Replays  are at various times (at Dandy Don Wicklin’s pleasure). LISTEN TO US ON-DEMAND and free yourself from the yoke of the live schedule! [We’re now the longest running show on the channel, including the XM years of O&A…CRAZY!]
